Many a times we get stuck when the vehicle battery dies unexpectedly. There could be several reasons like battery has run out of its usual life, or perhaps we forgot to switch off the headlights when we parked or using car electrical appliances like stereo and fan while the car is parked (engine not running). Whatever the reason maybe, you can quickly jump start your car using the battery of another car. All you need to have is a good set of Jump Cables.

Given below are 6 steps which will put you back on road in no time. Follow these steps to get your car running again:
Jump Starting Car Step 1

Step 1

Drive the good car up to your car so that the car batteries are as close as possible.

Car Jump Start Step 2

Step 2

Attach the red ‘Positive’ cable to the Good Car battery terminal, then attach the other red ‘Positive’ cable to your car battery terminal. Positive to Positive.

Car Jump Start Step 3

Step 3

Attach the black ‘Negative’ cable to the Good Car battery terminal, then attach the other back ‘Negative’ cable to your car Battery terminal. Negative to Negative.

Car Jumpt Start Step 4

Step 4

Start the Good Car first, Wait for 2 minutes, then start your car. Your car should start normally, wait for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Remove the cables in the REVERSE order they were attached.

Let your car run for 3-5 minutes before you hit the road. In case, the car fails to crank or start in step 4, then probably its not the car battery that is the issue. Check if there is enough fuel in your car. If yes, then it could be something to with the starter or engine.

If you need to replace your Vehicle Battery or are looking for a good set of Jump Cables, Call us at 0172 273 7453 or 9478676755. You can also email us

Difference between Inverter and Auto Batteries

What is the difference between Inverter and Automotive Batteries? This is a common question and most of the mechanics, battery dealers and inverter dealers are unable to answer it satisfactorily. To answer the question – there is a sea of difference between the two, batteries made for cars and trucks and batteries made for inverters, UPS or such power backup solutions.

Automotive batteriesTo understand the basic difference, you will need to understand the usage of the two types of batteries; Auto Batteries and Inverter Batteries. Auto Batteries the batteries used for cars, buses and trucks are batteries designed and build to provide a very large amount of current for a very short period of time, usually just for a few seconds to crank the engine. The sole purpose of the Auto Battery is to crank the vehicle’s engine, once the engine is running, the alternator in the vehicle takes care of all of the power needs of the vehicle and also quickly charges the battery back to its full potential.

Inverter BatteriesOn the other hand, Inverter batteries are designed to provide a small amount of current consistently for longer durations of time. All the backup power solutions, Inverters and UPS, function by converting the DC current into AC current because all of our electric appliances run on AC power. The Inverter or UPS batteries provide the DC current over extended periods for these devices to convert into AC power. To achieve this, the Inverter or UPS batteries are discharged over a much longer time to much lower potential as compared to Auto batteries. That is why, UPS and Inverter batteries are also known as deep Cycle batteries.

To achieve the above, the design of the two types of batteries differ considerably. The automotive batteries consist of large number of thin plates. This provides a large surface area of plates to react with the electrolyte to produce higher amount of current quickly. The Inverter Batteries whereas consist of lower number of plates which are much thinker as compared to auto batteries. The electrolyte volume of the inverter batteries is also more to prolong the chemical reaction to produce current. This enables Inverter Batteries to provide a consistent amount of current for extended periods.

So next time you are out buying new batteries for your Inverter or UPS, make sure you buy the correct type. Incorrect type of battery may not provide the desired backup time. More so, use to automotive batteries for inverters will reduce the battery life considerably.

A car battery or an automotive battery in general is built on lead-acid battery technology. This technology basically converts chemical energy into electrical energy and has been there for decades. It is reliable for the harsh environment of vehicles like extreme temperature swings and vibrations.

Lead-acid batteries for cars or SUVs are made of specialized hard plastic shell which contain Lead oxide plates and Sulphuric acid as electrolyte. This in fact is an arrangement of six cells of 2.1 volts each connected serially to give an output of 12.6 volts in fully charged condition. Most vehicles with exception of very heavy trucks use 12 Volt batteries. The size and capacity of battery (in ah) varies depending upon the size of the engine of your vehicle.

Car battery StructureThe Chemical Process

In a lead acid car battery, electrical current is created during the discharge cycle as the lead oxide plates absorb Sulphate from the diluted Sulphuric acid solution. When the battery is charged, the process is reversed. Current is pushed through the positive terminal into the plate pack, causing it to shed the sulphate it absorbed during discharge.

Chemicals and metals are added to the lead oxide of the plates in order to stabilize them and to slow down their rate of degradation under extreme usage.

Typically a car/SUV battery lasts anything between 3 to 4 years. Car batteries are different from the batteries used for inverters and other standby applications. To know the difference read – Difference between Inverter and Automotive Batteries.
